Freewheelin’ Community Bikes Retail Shop is the vibrant common ground where our community thrives. Built on a social entrepreneurial model of combining societal and commercial goals, we reinvest profits into our youth and programs because we believe that hard work should also come from within our own walls. The shop shows our values in daily action to provide accessible bicycles and affordable parts and accessories, all with impeccable customer service. Whether you are new to biking, or looking for a specific functional used parts for your very own stylized bicycle build, we take the time to build a relationship with you. As with our youth programs, our business is growing community relationships, and we have a bicycle for you that will be your vehicle.
Freewheelin’s full-service retail bicycle shop has been adapted for combined retail and educational purposes, and it operates largely on donations of quality used bicycles, parts and accessories. Bicycles that are unable to be used for our youth in Earn-A-Bike are professionally refurbished by expert mechanics, youth, and volunteers for the purpose of being new-to-you at affordable prices.
Our retail shop is also a perfect learning laboratory for our Youth Apprentices gaining on-the-job career skills, working in tandem with our expert mechanics. From quality repairs, to business operations, or building customer service skills, our youth are not only building bicycles—they are building life-long skills and future dreams. By purchasing a high-quality used bicycle, (or one of our NEW bicycles from Detroit Bikes or 6KU Bikes) from our shop, you are supporting those dreams, and creating new ones on your new bike!
